It's been home for about a year now, and I want to fill my roomy terrace with lots of plants. Container gardening is the way to go, I think. I want to create a quiet, beautiful oasis where I can escape with a good book whenever I want.

I just found out that I can even grow my favorite flowers in containers – climbing roses! I love roses so much - receiving them as gifts and displaying them throughout my home. I plan to use Banksia roses; they do well in warm climates. I plant to plant my roses in two oversized urns I found at an estate sale and train them to climb up and over the double French doors. I'll probably mix in some ivy for greenery to help them really stand out. I can't wait!

K Designs Gets Your House Ready for Spring

Before you know it, it will be Spring. At least 95 percent of all leaks found are minor and not very expensive to repair. However, an unrepaired leak can eventually cause damage to your pool's structural components.

Do you have a leak?

There are sealants available that you can buy to repair the leak yourself, but over time many of these products can actually cause the affected area to deteriorate further creating bigger and more expensive problems down the road. Does your pool leak when the equipment is on, off or all the time? Contacting pool experts, like Shasta Pools, to schedule a general pool inspection is always a good idea.

Signs to watch for

Check the areas around your pool for signs of leaking water like wet soil or erosion. If you're not sure that you have a leak, try testing the evaporation rate of your pool using a bucket of water. Mark the water levels of the pool and the bucket. Wait 24 hours. If the pool levels have dropped more than the bucket, you have a leak.
